Soap Making Ideas: Making Homemade Moisturizing Soap With Lotion

The ingredients and apparatus needed for making hand wash soap

Household blender
Digital kitchen scale to weight the fats and lye
One heatproof container that holds at least 8 cups, Tupperware, glass, stainless steel
One plastic, stainless, or a rubber spatula
Goggles for eye protection
Rubber or latex gloves
Candy and candle molds
Use spray with Pam
Color (optional)
Dissolving the Lye

Wear Rubber Gloves and Eye Protection

Pour the cold water into the heatproof container. Stir the water by adding slowly the lye. The water will boil, get very hot and turn cloudy. Try not to inhale the fumes. Stir it continuously until the lye gets dissolved. Then cool it until the solution gets clear.

Carefully and slowly pour the oil, milk and then the lye solution into your blender.

Lock the blender and secure the cover, it will better and safer if you use towel on the top of the blender.

Process it at the lowest speed until it become thick.

Then stop the blender and wait for few second to release the trapped air at the top. Repeat this each time when you stop the blender. Remove the cover of the blender and check it for a thin-trace stage. Run the spoon or spatula thru the mixture till it leaves a trace. If you found no trace then replace the cover and blend it again. After the thin trace stage, stop blending and continuously stir the soap to escape the bubbles.

Add your desired essential oils and colors. Then blend for a few minutes and then stop the blender. Again stir it to escape air bubbles again.

Final Stage

Pour the soap into the molds. Cover those with a blanket or a towel. Then for 2 to 3 days let the soap to set. Then keep it about there 21 days and you will find the soap is hard.
