With technology creeping in every walk of life, you can get these oils even online. When selecting oils select the ones with a long shelf life. The quantity of oils you use matters a lot. These oils are heavily concentrated. So, if you use even a little too much, they can do harm to your skin and overpower your nose. So the best way to add oils to your soap is one drop at a time. In this way you can never over use the oils. The fragrance oil is added once the soap is neutralized. But the soap has to be still hot when you add the oil drops. Fragrance to liquid soaps can be added up to 3%. This will only be around few drops of oils. The standard measurement is roughly .25 ounce of fragrance per pound of soap. If you wish your soap to smell stronger you can go a bit high up. If you wish the scent to be mild, you can reduce it. A typical example is about.5 ounce of Lavender essential oil per pound of soap. It is essential that you measure the amount of fragrance required before you actually add it. Any guess in this matter would spoil the soap; more importantly might affect your skin. One advantage with homemade soap is you can mix the scents if you wish. You can have a combination of lavender and rose. The effect can be unique and interesting. Constant stirring is necessary when adding fragrance oils or essentials oils to the soap. You add a drop of oil, stir, then another drop and you go on stirring all along.
