Bath Gel Recipes: Aromatherapy Scent IdeasAromatherapy is a way to improve beauty, health and well being through the use of natural aromatic oils in different forms including soap gels and inhalers. Aromatherapy can be practiced through many methods including bath, massage and inhalation. Aromatherapy through bath and massage are very effective methods that can accomplish several objectives. It has been found that aromatherapy can relax, improve retention power, and increase productivity. Different scents will have different effects on the body. While some scents are useful in relieving pain, others may be effective in reducing or eliminating nausea. Yet other oils may help you treat various conditions such as depression, anxiety, grief, fatigue, nervousness and so on. You can use either fragrance oils or essential oils for preparing the bath soap gels. Fragrance oils are made from synthetic compounds. They are generally cheaper, offer greater variety, and their effects linger for a longer time. On the other hand, essential oils are natural, being derived directly from the petals of flowers or roots of plants, and are naturally more costly. If you are using essential oils, handle the concentrated oils with care as they can cause harm to your skin. It is a good idea to check the effect of the oil that you are proposing to use by testing it on a small area of the skin. These precautions will help you to avoid possible side effects, and also ensure the best results for the particular problem for which you are using aromatherapy. Making aromatherapy gels that can be used with your bath is fairly easy. Mix water in the proportion of 1:2 with the desired quantity of unscented shampoo, and mix it well. Next add some common salt and a few drops of essential oil. The quantity of essential oil that you add would depend on you and your preferences or requirements. You can start with about 1 ml of the essential oil for about 250 grams of shampoo, and then vary the quantity depending on the effect that you get. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly. The resulting mixture can be stored and used with your bath. You may be wondering which oil to use in your gel. It all depends on the end use, and the nature of the user’s skin. Oils like Sandalwood, Carrot and Rose are more suitable for dry skin, whereas Orange, Lavender, Nutmeg and Jasmine can be used with oily skin. You can also use fragrance oils that are appropriate for your specific purpose. Fragrance oils can be added to soaps, gels or lotion. Here’s one word of caution. Essential oils can harm your skin in undiluted form. If they come in direct contact they can cause irritation in the skin, mucus membrane, or the eyes. So take care to avoid direct contact with concentrated essential oils, and also keep them out of reach of children. VISITOR COMMENTS on "Bath Gel Recipes: Aromatherapy Scent Ideas":
