Deep Muscle/Connective Tissue Massage

Stiffness at one point in the muscle can be relived with pressing at another point which means that the connective tissues of the body need a massage at times when they are affected by injuries.

The originality of Deep muscle/ Connective tissue Massage

The development of deep connective tissue massage therapy was first initiated by a German lady, Elizabeth Dicke. She had problems in her legs that resulted in coldness and discoloration and gradually it developed to gangrene. She was deeply sad and emotionally low for the problems and she had no other ways to get relieve from it.

One fine day she was simply stretching her lower back, she suddenly noticed and felt tingling and warmth sensation in her legs. She continued the stretches for few days and gradually found that her legs are improving slowly.

It is rightly said that necessity is the mother of all invention, The German lady made up her mind to develop a message techniques process totally based on her observation and the result. She took the help of two physicians for the research and message techniques. Subsequently, her technique came to known as deep muscle/ connective tissue massages.

What is Deep Muscle /Connective Tissue Massage?

It is a technique by which the chronic patterns of stress and tension in the body is released through slow movement and stroke, and deep finger pressure on the effected areas, muscles, fascia and tendons. This massage can be done in specific area or entire body.

How does it work?

If you are attaining the therapy session, the massage therapist will focus and concentrate on releasing tension from the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia with intense, deep strokes and finger pressures. Generally, in this therapy Oil or lotion is not used. In Deep Muscle/ Connective tissue massage therapy helps in breaking down adhesions in muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Deep Muscle/connective tissue massage treats the entire body instead of concentrating on any particular area. The massage can treat and cure the effected areas by massaging connective tissues. The connective tissues fill the gap between the fibers and muscles and form a protective layer around blood vessels.

Causes of adhesions in muscles

These adhesions cause due to injuries, chronic muscle tension, poor bad circulation, chronic pain, poor mobility and inflammation.

Emotional and physical stress and strain can stiffen and tighten the tissues. When this happens, the body loses its natural alignment and decreases its flexibility and gravitational balance.
