Choosing the Right Type of Massage Technique

Although there are many different types of massage techniques, acupressure is easily one of the most popular. It involves applying pressure to specific areas. There is a dramatic difference both mentally and physically.

Choosing the right type of massage technique may not be taken seriously by some but selecting the specific of massaging style that would suit you and your particular needs is incredibly crucial. The wrong massage technique may cause mild to serious injury if not worse.

How do I Choose the Right Type of Massage Technique?

Due to various massaging techniques available it is a frustrating task to decide which technique is suitable for which situation. Some of the basic massages are: acupressure, deep muscle massage, connective tissue massage, craniosacral therapy, reflexology, infant massage, myofascial release, myotherapy, polarity therapy, reiki, rolfing, shiatsu, sports massage, Swedish massage, Thai massage, and trigger point.

Acupressure

Acupressure is a massage technique that inherits the same ideas as acupuncture. It works by placing of physical pressure by using a hand or elbow, as well as with the aid of various other specifically designed devices. The application of pressure or localized massage to specific sites on the body is an effective method to cure symptoms such as nausea, pain, and bleeding.

This massage technique is derived from traditional Chinese medicine, and is used for pain relief and which works by involving pressure on particular points in the body which are noted and labeled as acupressure points. These points are certain localized points in the body and placing pressure on these to relieve pain and relax the body.

This type of massage is actually a combination of acupuncture and massage. In this technique thumbs and fingertips are used to apply pressure massage on the proper pressure points. Besides pressure, cold or light massage on very specific parts of the body, and it is used to bring about relief through greater balance and circulation of the energies in the body. The massage technique is effective and you would notice a dramatic change in the massage technique.
