Lemon: Benefits, Using Tips and Side Effects

Lemon essential oil is obtained by cold pressing of the fresh peel and this essential oil has a tart and tangy, scintillating clean lemon scent and smells just like the freshly grated peel. In cosmetic use, lemon essential oil is recommended for oily skin, acne-prone skin, and for use with lack-luster hair. It helps in lowering down the patches found on skin regular use of it also helps in controlling pimples. It is beneficial in many ways for health, skin, massaging and many more things. Lemon oil is also used as massage oil and is said to help relieve headaches and stress. Lemon essential oil also has the ability to both calm and revitalize, to relieve tension, invigorate, and inspire. Do not use lemon with children especially if they are younger than two years old or with anyone that has glaucoma. Use caution with anyone that has skin hypersensitivity, damaged skin or prostatic hyperplasia. If used on sensitive skin then irritation may occur for while so before using it do patch test in that apply oil in small area keep it for while and if any reaction occurs then should not be used. But normally it can be used on all type of skin. Lemon essential oil can be kept for 3-5 years under proper storage conditions. The oil should be stored in clean sealed glass bottles, at 5-25 degrees Celsius, and in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct heat and sunlight.

According to Ayurvedic Medicine, an ancient system of healing practiced in India, the sour taste of Lemon is used to regulate and pacify conditions of Vata imbalance such as constipation, flatulence, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, hyper activity and confusion, worry and restlessness, premenstrual syndrome, and insomnia. It is also be used to pacify conditions of Pitta imbalance such as emotional outbursts and feelings of anger and frustration.
