Juniper: Benefits, Using Tips and Side Effects

The evergreen juniper will grow in two varied sizes. It may grow as a tall bush, if it is standing upright and high, or, it may just be a shrub, which stays very close to the ground too short in size. Both bush and shrubs are easily found and easy to maintain. But good care has to be taken for atmosphere, temperature and it can be grown only in particular seasons. Juniper flowers are quite attractive. It has beautiful, bright, yellow flowers, with needles, and blue berries, which turn black upon maturity. It is the ripened berry, which is the source of juniper essential oil from which we get oil other main constituents in juniper essential oil are terpinen, pinene and terpineol. Each of them has particular properties and can be used for different purposes. It is these three main constituents, which make the oils useful for stimulating circulation, fighting skin irritations, and for muscle pains.

Juniper can often act as a toner for oily skin. It is beneficial for those who have acne or rashes problems. Using it regularly will help in removing the marks of pimples. It helps to protect against additional infection or inflammation. But it cannot be used directly, thus for that have to make the solution for this application, just combine 1 drop of juniper oil, with 1/2 cup of witch hazel, and 1/2 cup of cool water, and properly shake. Then just apply to skin with cotton pads soaked with mixture and do not scrub the mixture in, just pat the skin with cotton pads, especially if you already have inflammation or irritations.

It has been well known to help with joint pains. All you need to do is massage the oil mixture in to areas, which are affected by arthritis or sore joints. If used daily then will help in permanent cure of join pains, Juniper oil is also used for muscular pain and massage. After applying it one feels relaxed and relief from pain and even feels fresh. As this oil is too strong to apply, it has to be added with other oil and dilute it to use this oil for joint pain we have to make the mixture, mix 4 drops of juniper oil, 4 drops of lavender oil, and 2 drops of rosemary oil with a carrier oil of your own choice, such as safflower oil. After doing this, it is ready for usage and helps in reliving down the pain. It can be used for regular massage also, which will help in blood circulation and makes feel fresh and healthy.

Another condition, which is known to be affected by juniper essential oil, is cellulite. Juniper essential oil's stimulating effect helps to hard the connective tissues of the skin, thus pulling the skin tighter, and not allowing for the dimples spots to appear. Blend 2 drops of juniper oil, 2 drops of cypress oil and 2 drops of orange oil in about 2 tablespoons of your preferred carrier oil, such as safflower oil. Before showering, you need to massage the affected area with skin brush. This will help to get the circulation going in the area. Then, shower just as normal and doing so, massage the affected area upon with the blend.

Juniper is also best for pets. If your animal has dry scaly skin, just add 4 drops of juniper essential oil to the water when you give the animal a bath. It will turn the dry and rough skin into smooth and silky one. This will really improve the condition of their skin to great levels. Also, to cleanse where your animal is sleeping, just blend 5 drops of juniper essential oil and 10 drops of lavender essential oil on a spray container with water. Then spray the blend where your animal sleeps and lounges. Nice thing is, this blend is also pleasant for the aroma of your house as well. If your animal has fleas or ticks, then just add 2 drops of eucalyptus oil to the spray bottle blend to get rid of all the ticks or fleas.

Juniper essential oil has many benefits and healing properties, for both you and your animal and its pleasing pine scent makes a staple for many homes. It is also used as room freshener. So pine-up and start enjoying a healthier natural life.
