As a candle lit dinner can be of real pleasure, the candles used during this occasion should be an unscented candle so that it does not hinder with the food eaten. Newer designs of taper candles are available which are drip less that does not drip any of the costly accessories.

Taper candles are available in almost all shops and they can even be purchased online by just surfing the Internet for these. Payment shall also be done through Internet so buying a candle is just a click away! These taper candles can also be made at home with the budding ideas of the person. It can be customized according one's own wishes.

Taper candles are long and slender beautiful candles which attracts everyone towards it. It comes along with a candles holder, which has a small hole at one end to insert the candle into it. The length of taper candles ranges from six to twenty inches and it is suggested to have the appropriate candleholder for it so that it does not tip over. This taper candle does not stand on its own like the pillar candles, as they have to be supported by a candleholder always. For protecting from dripping of the wax, the candleholders should be clean often and a clean piece of cloth should be placed beneath it.

In the olden days, the taper candles were made from animal fat which was boiled in to a substance, which was known as tallow. These olden candles produced a lot of smoke when lighted and was yellowish in colour. But nowadays, the entire theme has changed as taper candles are made from paraffin wax and it is drip less too. It is to be noted that the candle should be trimmed always before lighting it. These candles do not produce much smoke and leave very little residue.

Sculpted or simple taper candles are a wonderful addition to any wedding table. Taper candles can be accessorized if you wish to fit your theme and are drip free. They add sophistication and elegance; they in fact are one of the best wedding table ideas.

Taper candles can be easily made at home. First the wax has to be heated at 145 degree Fahrenheit. For doing do, the wax should not be directly heated and instead it should melted in a double boiler. This is done so as the wax doe not come in direct contact with the stove heat. If this happens then it might burn the pot the person is using. It is to be noted that a bowl of cold water should be placed near the boiler for safety. First thing to do is to dip the wicks into the liquid wax so that the wick is completely covered with the wax. Paraffin is the most suitable wax; beeswax is not only expensive, it is fairly soft and your taper candles will be inclined to bend on a hot day. Break the wax into discrete chunks - the smaller the chunks, the faster the wax will melt. After this they are to be dipped into cold water soon and kept for few seconds. This procedure is adopted to harden the wax. Repeat the procedure of dipping the wick in liquid wax and alternatively dipping in cold water. Continue this method until the desired size of the taper candle you need is made. This is an easy method that everyone can adopt in making candles.

You will also need a candle-making thermometer to gauge the temperature of the melted wax for the taper candles. A candy thermometer does not measure the right range of temperatures; you will need a thermometer that can measure 140-160 degrees Fahrenheit (60-71 degrees Celsius). A thermometer specific to candle making will have a clip on the side, which allows you to clip it to the inside of the melting can. Nowadays even to attract towards the Taper candles bulk discounts are being provided by the manufacturers of Taper Candles.
