As a beginner in scented candles making, there are certain things that are to be understood by the person who makes it. The person should have knowledge about the things in a candle like the wick, wax etc and know how it burns and even how to make candles. Different things are needed for how to make candles. Wax melting kit is cheap double boiler set up that prevents the wax from reaching high temperatures that might be very dangerous. With the help of this kit the person can measure the temperature as it comes along with a thermometer and stir sticks. Paraffin wax or beeswax that melts at 136 degree Fahrenheit to 141 degree Fahrenheit is needed. In case of making pillar candles, wax with medium melting point is required. Wick is the next ingredient without which it is impossible to light a candle. Wick size depends on the diameter of the mold and the wax formula adopted. Usually the wax wick type is recommended for use in scented candles. There are over thousands of molds which are available easily these days. In this case, aluminium molds are preferred over iron molds as they have durability and give an exotic look to the candles while the metal molds offer a kind of rust look to the candles. The wick hole which is present in the hole can be sealed using the mold sealer or wick holder bar. Nowadays, jiffy wicker is preferred by all.

There are a lot of methods which are involved in making scented candles. But the basic method is the same and changes are made only in few of the steps. First the wax is heated at 160 degrees and it is checked with thermometer for the temperature as it is to be noted that the wax do not get too hot. Preheating of the jar in the oven is done at lowest settings. This is done for the wax to stick onto the candle jar. The major step is to mix along the scented oils along with the wax and is stirred until it reaches 160 degrees. Food colour can also be added to the wax for better look! Hazards can be prevented by checking the temperature with a thermometer. The final step would be to fill the jar with the wax by leaving few inches on the top. Air bubbles can be released by tapping the jar and pricking with chopstick also helps for releasing bubbles. Keep outside for a while and then after it has shrunk place them in refrigerator for 10 whole minutes. Next step would be to slide them out to a clean towel and polish them by spraying the candle sprayer. Finally untie the wick and cut them by measuring half an inch above the candle top. The candle is ready after leveling the base!
