How to Make a Round Ball Shaped Candle?

Round ball shaped candles are spectacular to look at and yet they are easy to make. They definitely enhance the interior of any home. Nevertheless round ball shaped candles require some extra skill to make.

We will see the detailed procedure of making round ball shaped candles.

Materials Required

Round ball mold is the primary requirement for making round ball shaped candles. This mold is normally of plastic and a single mold usually consists of two hemispherical pieces that snap together. This mold is available in different sizes and can be got from any local craft store.

The actual method of making a round ball shaped candle greatly depends on the type of mold you use. Some molds come with clamps and stand. Here, you just snap the pieces together and let it stand on its own. But some mold types come without stand. Here you can use two soup cans to make the mold stand in between.

Sealing of the mold pieces is significant as it determines the smoothness of the finally made round ball shaped candle. At the places where the mold pieces meet there will be a seam. If the gap between the pieces is smaller then seam will also be small and invisible. Some molds come with a rubber gasket for to ensure stronger sealing of the mold pieces. If the gasket is not available you can still make the pieces to be sealed strongly by wrapping it around tightly with a rubber band. Mold clamps and alligator clips also help sealing the two mold pieces together.

But for the tricky molds, making a ball shaped candle is like making nay other candle. You need the double boiler set up to melt the wax. The water in the lower pot ensures that wax is not overheated and ensures that it gets heated gradually. You can either buy this set up. Or you can pick up an old unused pot from your kitchen. And use it along with a wax-melting pitcher that you bought.

Depending on the size of the mold the amount of wax you melt varies. When buying the mold do not forget to ask its size. When using color, it is always good to put some extra wax rather than otherwise.

You have to be extra careful when working with hot wax. Be sure to cover all the work area with paper or still better with cardboard. Be attentive all the time when wax is melting. If you do it might be on fire. As wax is melting, you add the colored wax dye. You can be sure about the color by dripping a small droplet of the wax on a paper.

Keep in mind that ball candles are generally devoid of any fragrance.

Once thaw ax has melted pour it in the mold, seal the mold pieces and allow it to cool for at least four hours. As the wax cools indentations appear. Apple some melted wax over these and allow it to cool for an additional two hours.

Unmolding should be done carefully. The clamps, gasket, rubber band etc. should be removed first. Trim away the extra wax if any using a small craft knife. That’s it. Your round ball shaped candle is ready.
