For making candles at home you need four things which are very important. It includes wax, a pan or something to melt wax, something to pour the melted wax, wick to insert into the candle. In short handmade candles can be made by using the utensils in kitchen such as pots and cups. Even candle molds are available at very low prices. Methods involved in making handmade candles are many. It is a step by step process. The first step is to heat the wax to almost 160 degrees. Always use the thermometer to check the temperature and make sure that the wax does not become too hot. For the wax to stick to the candle jar, preheat the jar in oven at lowest setting. The second step is to mix scented oils along with the wax and stir it when it reaches 160 degrees. After mixing in the scent, add the food colouring and stir again. Keeping an eye on the thermometer might help a lot in preventing hazards. The third step is to take the jar from the oven and to fill the mixture into by leaving a few inches from the top. Release air bubbles by gently tapping the jar. Prick with a chopstick along the wick to release air bubbles. Let the candle to shrink and then place the jar in refrigerate for 10 minutes. Then slide out the candle upside down over a clean towel. Hold the wick and spray candle sprayer over it to polish it. Untie wick and cut it to one half inch above the candle top. Level the base of candle and the candle is ready! The handmade candles can be made unique by adding essential oils to them. Some of the essential oils are rose oil, sage oil, lavender oil, tea tree oil, sandal wood oil and rosemary oil. These essential oils have their own advantages that make them distinct from others. Rose oil is known for their excellent smell and they are used in perfumery usually. It has a warm and rich aroma that helps to keep soul and the body calm and peaceful. Rosemary oil has an aroma similar to that of camphor. They are known as treatment for head aches, pain, cramps, sprains etc. The aroma of these oils makes the mood peaceful! The sage oil is also famous for their exclusive sweet and nutty smell that makes the surroundings smell wonderful! Sandal wood oil is known world wide for their strong aroma of musky woody odour that is preferred by majority of people in the world! Tea tree oil is known for their medicinal value and they are used to treat a variety of diseases such as eczema, infections, psoriasis and many more. They are known for their sweet aroma that makes them unique and the odour which is loved by most of them! There are aromatherapy candles that use these oils along with the paraffin.
